Alejandra Chacra has a Masters Degree in Urban Environmental Systems Management from Pratt Institute in New York and a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree she collaborated for almost two years in a Mexican architecture firm in the areas of project development and design. This led her to open her own independent architecture studio where she became more passionate about the environment. She took a bio-construction workshop and developed several projects using these strategies and techniques, getting involved in the whole process from design to construction. She moved to NYC to get her Master’s degree and worked as a fellow for NYC Environmental Justice Alliance collaborating with a non-profit organization called “Nos Quedamos” focused on community development in the South Bronx. She also worked for almost a year in a NYC based architecture firm, expanding her knowledge on a variety of projects. Her focus in particular is in the intersection of environmental systems and their relationship to urban planning, architecture, and design. She is in the process of becoming a certified Yoga teacher in India and is very passionate about this practice.
